Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the school's strategy for teaching social studies subjects through Social Studies Studies (SKIS). Multicultural Education is an effort to integrate into one multicultural understanding of the many diversity in Indonesia. An education based on instilling multicultural values will help students in each school understand the richness of culture and appreciate differences in every respect, starting from differences in ethnicity, religion, race, ethnicity, and so on. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data obtained from observation, interview, and, documentation. The informants in this study were the deputy head of the curriculum, the social studies teacher, and several students majoring in social studies. The results of the study show that the multicultural education strategy is carried out not only through social studies subjects but also using the Social Science Study Study (SKIS) strategy. Implementation of the SKIS method by visiting several historical tourist attractions related to social studies including the Trowulan Mojokerto Temple, an area of the Hindu community in Banyuwangi, along with historical sites that contain culture. The influence of SKIS activities makes students happy and able to understand directly based on experience with objects of the nation's cultures.

Abstract

The myth remains a frequently encountered phenomenon in society, particularly among the Javanese people known for their spiritual sharpness. This article explains the myth of calculating "weton" in marriage ceremonies conducted by the community of Gedangan Village, Lamongan Regency. The article argues that the myth of calculating "weton" in marriage is not merely a superficial myth without any meaning or significance. Using a descriptive method, this article describes that the calculation of "weton" in marriage is the result of the interaction between ancestors and deities or other mystical entities, which, when viewed from Mircea Eliade's perspective, is commonly referred to as the sacred. This sacred element then manifests itself as symbols and myths in the form of the Javanese calendar system, which is later used as a reference for calculating "weton."

Abstract

A single embedded case study and a descriptive qualitative methodology are used in this study. sources of information include people or organizations, activities or events, documents and archives, as well as literature. The objectives of this study are to identify the economic liberalization that has taken place in the implementation of education in Indonesia, identify the effects of this economic liberalization, and discover the economic liberalization that has taken place in the education provision in Indonesia through its perspective of human rights. Education is a fundamental right that every citizen has access to, as stated in the preamble of the Undang-Undang Dasar 1945, which is about the nation's intellectual life. Everyone needs education to provide them with new knowledge. The economic liberalization of education provision refers to the recent use of education as a new tool to profit from all angles. Those with lower income levels may notice the effects of economic liberalization in the implementation of this education because it becomes more challenging for them to obtain the best education. Complete facilities and top-notch teaching staff are necessary for good education. The results of the study indicate that diverse parties must promote instruction that adheres to Indonesian national standards. Disparities and prejudice against particular groups seeking a great education must be removed in order to guarantee that every student has equitable access to a high-quality education that will help them develop their potential and talents in the future. The government, as the highest authority, should carry out planned programs in line with the desired objectives by evaluating field data and keeping an eye on connected parties' performance. The government will be able to maintain broad control over program execution as a result, without concentrating on or supporting any particular group.

Abstract

The Kurds are the name of an ethnic group that occupies several countries in the Middle East, notably Iraq, Iran, Türkiye, and a small part of Syria. The existence of Kurds who are different from ethnic groups in general has always been seen as a regional problem and treated discriminatorily. Because of this, the Kurds always carry out movements, even rebellions, to fight for political rights. The method used in this research is qualitative research with a library approach. The results of the study show that each Kurdish community spread across each country has differences that are not too prominent. In general, the difference lies in the direction of their movement based on the group leader and the religion they adhere to. Although the majority of Kurds adhere to Sunni Islam, there are also those who practice different religions, such as Christianity, Judaism, Yazidis, and Zoroastrians. Currently, there are still many people who think that the Kurds are a tribe that always causes problems, although there are also those who think that most Kurds want recognition for their existence and special autonomy for the area where they live.

Abstract

Pada saat pembelajaran IPS berlangsung siswa kelas VIII MTsN 2 masih banyak yang tidak fokus dalam pembelajaran seperti halnya mengobrol dengan teman sebangkunya, melamun, dan sering izin keluar kelas. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan model discovery learning sangat penting untuk meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui cara meningkatkan keaktifan siswa berdasarkan indikator keaktifan belajar yaitu aktif belajar yang terjadi dengan proses mengalami, aktif belajar dengan bentuk peristiwa belajar aktif, aktif belajar melalui proses mengatasi masalah dengan menggunakan model discovery learning kelas VIII. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan dua siklus; perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model discovery learning dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa diantaranya fokus mendengarkan penjelasan guru, aktif menjawab pertanyaan, aktif bertanya ketika ada materi yang tidak dimengerti, aktif dalam kegiatan diskusi, aktif dalam memecahkan masalah tentang materi yang dipelajari, serta aktif mengutarakan ide guna menyelesaikan masalah. Peningkatan keaktifan siswa pada siklus I yaitu siswa yang aktif 24%, kurang aktif 44%, tidak aktif 32% sedangkan pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan dengan persentase siswa aktif 91% sedangkan pada siswa yang kurang aktif 9%.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of violence against women and children, as well as mitigation and prevention efforts. The study employs a mixed methods approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods. Data collection methods include observation, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews, with data analysis conducted both qualitatively and quantitatively. The research findings indicate that the impact of violence against women encompasses both physical and non-physical injuries that affect the psychological well-being of the women involved. This can lead to long-term trauma, depression, and the potential for these women to perpetrate violence against others, including children. The study also reveals significant impacts of violence against children, including psychological disturbances and mental effects that can hinder their ability to interact socially. Children who are victims of violence tend to experience deep trauma, exhibit aggressive behavior, and struggle to adapt to their social environment. In efforts to mitigate and prevent violence against women and children, there is a need to enhance family functioning and intensify awareness and education campaigns by the government and relevant institutions, such as the police and community organizations. Synergy between the community and the government is key to the success of these mitigation efforts, enabling the effective prevention of violence against women and children through the institutionalization of preventive actions.

Abstract

Conflict in society is a social phenomenon that originates from relations between individuals who have mutual interests but have conflicting viewpoints that cause conflict. The conflict between tobacco farmers in Campurejo Village is a phenomenon that is no longer surprising because tobacco plants are often called controversial plants from time to time. The purpose of this study was to analyze the conflict network of tobacco farmers in Campurejo Village, Temanggung Regency because conflict is a routine phenomenon every year during the tobacco season. This study used descriptive qualitative research methods supported by observation, interviews, and literature studies. The results show that the conflict with tobacco farmers in Campurejo Village occurs because there are many interested actors, namely the government, tobacco factories, middlemen, and laborers. The government is a gateway for farmers to issue policies to tighten the reduction of tobacco production under the pretext of health. This is inversely proportional to the large number of tobacco imports which has caused the price of local tobacco to shift. The trading system for tobacco is considered chaotic so tobacco farmers are said to be the losers because the trade system policies are not in favor of the welfare of farmers. Abstract

Social capital is a key aspect in nurturing inclusive and sustainable learners. Efforts to strengthen social capital in students in this era of globalization can be achieved through the integration of the "mapalus" values into Social Studies (IPS) education. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection methods including interviews with teachers and students, observations, and document analysis. The findings of this study indicate that the integration of "mapalus" values into IPS education can be considered an effective strategy for enhancing students' social capital. Mapalus-based IPS learning encourages students to become active and responsible members of society. The local wisdom of "mapalus" values applied teaches the importance of mutual assistance and the development of social skills in students.

Abstract

One of the traditions that has become the livelihood of the coastal community in Seraya Village is ngawan. However, along with the influence of globalization, ngawan activities began to be abandoned., this is in line with public perceptions regarding the work of fishermen who are considered poor. The effort to preserve ngawan can be done by referring to the strategy of cultural promotion. This research was conducted with the following objectives: (1) to describe the life of coastal communities in Seraya Village, and (2) to understand the strategy of cultural promotion in various aspects of the life of coastal communities in Seraya Village. The method used in this research is qualitative with techniques such as participant observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies to produce a holistic ethnographic work. The subject selection used a purposive model, namely those who live in the coastal area of Seraya Village. The results showed that most of the coastal communities of Seraya Village have implemented cultural promotion strategies without realizing it, although the active role of the government to improve the welfare of coastal communities is still needed.
